Nkuringo Youth Mushroom Initiative (NYMI) is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) operating in Nkuringo Town Council, Kisoro District, Uganda, in the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
NYMI was established in 2022 to address the interconnected challenges of youth unemployment, poverty, malnutrition, environmental degradation and limited access to education among vulnerable families living around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Our approach combines conservation, sustainable agriculture, nutrition, skills development and education support to create lasting opportunities for local communities while protecting one of Africa's most important ecosystems.
Registered with Kisoro District Local Government, NYMI works closely with community members, youth, women, conservation stakeholders and development partners to build resilient, self-reliant and environmentally responsible communities.
